[...] Tigers pitching phenom Rick Porcello made his Tiger debut on Friday. Since Porcello signed late last year after the draft he never threw in the minors at all last season so this was our first real look at the guy. He got in against the Jays and faced six batter and retired all six of them including a strikeout of Frank Thomas. I won’t go too much into detail since it was just a two inning appearance in February, but if you want a bit more info on Porcello’s outing, check out Bilfer’s site.
I hope we don't see him in 2009, no matter how talented he is. The Tigers need to stop rushing their top prospects.

It's only one outing of 2 IP, but I can't help but be impressed. Six up, six down and like you mentioned, Billfer, no balls out of the infield.

I've seen it mentioned a few times that Porcello is at least 2 years away, but if he has a real nice season, I wonder if there's at least a shot of seeing him in 2009.

A quick amateur look at that picture, and I'll give him a thumbs up on mechanics.
