Yea, speaking of managers, I do think Joe Torre is a great manager. He has had a lot of talent, but dealing with the New York media and his on field decision making are priceless.

Thank you LaRussa for the homefield advantage! Love leaving Pujols on the bench with bases loaded in bottom of ninth. And don’t give me ‘I was saving him for the tenth.’ i know he was out of position players, but you’re 99% gonna either win or lose in that at-bat. Once again, LaRussa proves the rule that both he and Leyland follow: players don’t matter most, managers do. They’re like umpires, you shouldn’t notice them. Managers with the ‘look at me while I outthink myself’ vibe: LaRussa, Guillen, Leyland, and Willie Randolph. Managers you rarely notice: Torre, Francona, and Scioscia. I’m not saying the former always suck and the latter are perfect, Torre kills his middle relief every year, but LaRussa etc… have a svengali quality I can’t stand.

Dave, DH and Anne: I thought the same thing. I thought it should have been an error on ARod and that baserunning was ridiculous. Why did he do that?

Really uninspiring showing for AL West closers tonight. The best thing about the Putz/Rodriguez banality was seeing Dmitri get his hit.

I feel kind of bad for Royals fans, who once again didn’t get to see their player (who actually deserved to go, this year) actually play.

Billfer – I agree the equipment is probably hard to set up. Of course, half a season to do it is short notice for MLB (lol).

Steve – I agree and my first explanation would be that it probably is hard to set up the equipment on short notice. But then they managed to do it on short notice last fall for the playoffs. So I don’t have an explanation for you.
