Heh … Ryan Raburn made the 2007 Ken Phelps All-Star team. What an honor.

Can Raburn play first base? This guy deserves a chance!

What’s that, a homer by Maybin?? .. who also doubled in the AS game .. are we sure we’re talking about the right kid?

Expectations change everything. I don’t know how many writers/bloggers comment that the lack of pop in Gorkys’ bat is simply from inexperience at age 19. The flip-side is, of course, the rather common implication that Maybin, at the elderly age of 20, is suddenly ready for the scrap-heap when he spends a month rolling-over swinging for the fences.

We need to be realistic folks. He is only 20! Remember, Cameron was a high-school selection LAST YEAR as an impact position player (which we sorely lack) and he WILL take a few years to develop. He’s had less than a year of coaching above the HS level. Let’s cut the kid some slack.

Trading this guy for a reliever, or two, would be idiotic.
