Just like I knew my dog was going to die 2 weeks ago, didn’t lessen the shock of having him gone. Like post-traumatic syndrome. I agree Mike has had some difficulties, but the NL will suit him better just because of his athleticism. When he picks up a bat, he can actually use it and he’s very athletic. He can contribute to his team by more than pitching.

I think they’re gonna shop Robertson.

1) I’ve said that trading Robertson is plausible and should be explored for the last couple weeks.

2) there’s really no great help in the relief department out there.

3) 9 game world series? Eh. I’d just rather have the top 2 teams in each league (yes league) make the postseason. Start right away in the league championship series. I know the Cards beat us last year, but it’s a joke still that any team with an 83 win season that nearly choked away a 7 game lead in 7 days is the “World Champion of Major League Baseball” when they were probably the 15th or worst best team in the majors.

4) Maroth is a class act. I wish nothing for the best for him. However, no matter how classy, it’s still a business and the fact remains he’s allowed 134 baserunners (not counting HBP’s, i forgot to look at those) in just 85.2 IP and that he gives up a HR every like, 5 innings of baseball.

I don’t understand the comments about Maroth. He absolutely has the class of a Steve Yzerman, but I think we can all agree that he doesn’t have that kind of talent.

He’s a great guy, but it takes more than that to spend an entire career in one city. While I’m sure it will take awhile for him to get used to the change, I can’t imagine he is actually shocked by the move. I’m just thrilled that he ended up in a town that desperately needs him and he’s off to a good start so far.

I’m watching the Cardinal vs Mets game and the camera was focused on Mike Maroth while they talked about his career. I swear to God, it looked like he had tears in his eyes. Then he put his finger up to his eye like he was brushing something off. Nobody was talkin to him, he was just standing there.

Robertson for closer? Not in a million years, I hope.

The spelling error was started by me. I wish Billfer would add a spell check (Although it wouldn’t catch names, I grant you)… anyway, just a typo. I do it alot with Rivera. I’m assuming Otuska is spelled correctly… but that could be wrong, too.

Glad I could give you the reaction you wanted T Smith! Even though we did well against him last night..I think the Otuska (prob didn’t spell that right) is the guy to go after. He’s been a closer before and has been pretty successful. He doesn’t have the injury concerns that Gagne has and he probably wouldn’t cost as much as Gagne would. Yankees fans willing to give up Riveria is one thing, getting Cashman to do it would be something completely different.

Yeah, I know Riveria was a wild and unrealistic stab. Looking for reaction more than anything. But, hey… you never know. I’ve talked to a lot of Yankee fans who would be willing to part with Riveria for some bonafied starting pitching… (Miner? and a handful of prospects??) When the Yankees are contending again they can buy a closer of choice, or so the argument goes. Plus he’s fallen out of favor, and the Yankee organization is all about “what have you done for me lately?” Anyway, just an interesting topic of discussion more than anything.

I listened too the same WXYT audio and agree 100% with the host. I also agree with you that Gagne is not the guy … he’s a DL prospect waiting to happen.

Riveria? Are you serious? Come on T Smith, you are better than that. I actually go to listen to some of the WXYT talk about trading for a closer since the MLB audio just kept it on WXYT during the delay. I agree now that there needs to be a deal made, but nobody is going to want Robertson and Monroe as part of a deal, they are going to want to build for the future and are going to want a front of the line prospect or 2. I agree with the host of the show that you don’t give up Maybin at any cost, but is Gagne really the guy we need? Imagine giving up 3 prospects and this guy blowing out his arm again. He’s a free agent at the end of the year, so we’d give up all of that for nothing. But the overall tone of the discussion was that this team HAS to make a deal for relief help, and I’m beginning to agree.

Yes. I would entertain trading Robertson and any prospect package (except Maybin) for the right closer. Depending on the price, maybe even for Gagne, but not straight up for Robertson… he’s a free agent after this year and I think he’s overrated and prone to injury. How about Gagne AND Otsuka for Roberston and a handful of prospects? That might be worth it.

How about Riveria for Robertson and a handful of prospects?

Robertson in the closer role isn’t such a bad idea either — if nothing else pans out.
