My Crazy Lineup

Pudge (Love idea of leadoff, think he will have a stellar year)
Polanco (Think he knows the AL pitchers somewhat now)
Sheffield (Norm you bat your best hitter 3rd, but Guillen was and could be it)
Ordonez (Hope is pull-happy)
Guillen (Line to line best hitter .920 OPS, not mr K)
Shelton (Hopefully understays welcome at Mudville, maybe won't even set up camp with the spring hes havin :))
Thames (Slugga!)
Inge (I'd rather have Inge hit .290 with 2/3 the power, just put it in play consistantly)
Granderson (Really died in 2nd half, I look for the stamina to improve significantly)

[...] As I’ve mentioned before, the order of the players in the lineup matters much less than which players are in it. This is because the Tigers lineup is quite balanced without real standout players, and without real black holes. Besides, Leyland will likely use over 100 different lineups this year. Last year the most common lineup used took the field all of 6 times. [...]

Haha Nefi, I duno I like Ordonez hitting after Shef and Guillen so he can see more hitable pitches

Hopefully Ordonez is gearing up for next season by getting alot healthier and re-learning how to drive the ball, something he in my mind did not do nearly enough of last year.

I too like his suggested lineup just fine...for the most part. I dont like that Polanco gets so few at bats sitting in the 9 spot, being one of our best hitters for average. But my favorite part is the back-to-back strikeout combo of Inge and Granderson is no longer an option for killing rallies.

I might be inclined to move Sheffied/Ordonez to 4th and 5th respectively, slot Polanco in the top 3 somewhere, and bat Monroe 9th.

But I'll agree that the right people are more important than the order. So keep Nefi out and I wont complain to loudly. Gimme Bonderman or Rodney at the plate instead!

I don't read that Lynn is on board with the intuition-over-science, He's just pointing out that not everyone buys into stats being the end-all be all to managing a baseball team.

I wouldn't call it science at this point either.
