If Maroth pitched a one-hitter and threw 85 pitches, why does he need any more rehab starts?

Good question. Isn’t there a limit on how long a rehab assignment can last? I’m wondering if the Tigs are maybe trying to stretch out Maroth’s rehab until after Sept 1?
