I remember posting here a month or two ago about the seriousness of the Tigers' high strikeout numbers and low walk numbers. Someone said they didn't think that striking out a lot and not walking didn't mean a lot in terms of wins and losses.

Hmm, maybe now they will.

The Tigers' offense is struggling rather badly right now and the ability to get some walks to manufacture a run or two would be the difference in some of these games they have lost.

Lets go out and at least get the series split this afternoon. We need a pick me up before facing the dreaded White Sox this week.

Man, I would love to see us just beat on the Sox this week. We need to take out some frustrations on 'em.

This sucks, but if there was ever a time to slump, it's mid-August. Our success was long enough that the guys truly believe in themselves and we still have well over a month left to hit our stride again.

Hitting, coaching, pitching, defense.

Tigers have one of three working during their toughest month, and perhaps most critical.

Yankees are looking brilliant for snagging Abreu.

They could have drawn just as many walks in the 9th as the Yankees did vs. the Bosox today, if they'd only let the guy keep on throwing bad pitches.

Probably because Granderson couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat right now.

Another wasted pitching effort and we've now allowed BOTH Chicago and Minnesota to gain a game on us.

Also, I'm really impressed with Thames' Pedro Cerano immitation there in the 9th.

not to be a second guesser, but why in god's name would Leyland want to pinch hit for Granderson, when Granderson is one of the top players in the majors in both WPA and clutchness (http://clutchiness.blogspot.com/)
