Exactly. I like the back of the bullpen, but the front could stand some upgrading. It doesn’t need to happen, but if it did, Leyland would have a sickening array of options if the starter struggles.

Realistically, who would McDougal replace? I’d be more than happy to dump jones and bump Walker, Rodney, and Zumaya up a slot and put McDougal where Walker is right now, but that’s not going to happen. The Tigers aren’t going to DFA Jones.

You can’t demote Zumaya, Rodney, or Walker because that would send a bad message to the team, so basically McDougal replaces one of Grilli, Ledezma, or Colon. That’s an upgrade, but not one that upgrades a high leverage role on this team.

I don’t get the Carlos Lee proposal either. A power-hitting right-handed bat with lousy plate discipline? We got more than a few of those already.

I’m more interested in the McDougal trade. Why didn’t we pursue him? If we could get one more high end reliever, we’d probably win 90+% of the games that we’re leading after 5 innings.

If the Sox are dumb enough to trade McCarthy for Soriano, I’ll be happy to see it. Their offense isn’t exactly their weakness.

is the FreeP correct when they say that Carlos Lee is next on the list of people who would cause Detroit to part with Sanchez if Soriano goes elsewhere? because i’d like to think there are better people up for grabs…

I don’t buy it, the Nats want more than that. I think the Sox would repackage him if they did trade for him though.

White Sox would have to give up more than just McCarthy, right?

A lineup including Soriano, Thome, Konerko, and Dye would be pretty scary.
