The Tigers traded John McDonald back to the Toronto Blue Jays for cash considerations. This comes one week after the two teams completed their July trade by agreeing to cash considerations. Essentially, the Tigers rented McDonald for 3 months. The trade frees up an additional spot on the 40 man roster, and may indicate the clubs interest in acquiring another infielder this offseason.
I’m a little sad to see McDonald go, if only because he was so nice to my son when we went to a game.
New Mud Hens Logo
The Toledo Mud Huns unveiled a new logo today.
I actually like the new logo quite a bit. Unfortunately I bought a Mud Hens hat a couple months ago. I guess now it will be vintage.
I agree, John was an excellent role model and player to have around the kids. Always tried and played hard. Maybe not the most gifted, but an excellent example of how players used to be.

Several years ago, the Tigers acquired Dickie Noles for a player to be named later and, after the season ended, Noles became the player to be named later. They were criticized for it. To avoid that criticism, that might explain why the McDonald transactions were structured in this way, with yesterday’s transaction separated from the original trade.
Getting McDonald was a good move. He had a knack for timely hits. But he probably was a surplus player.
Does anyone think this is a precursor to another move? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part?
