Casey Stengel wouldn't gotten any more out of this team. Trammell would be fine if he had more horses. Phil Garner has better "clubhouse chemistry" now that he has Biggio, Berkman, Clemens, Pettitte et al. When your choices are Chris Spurling or Franklyn German it's easy to look bad. When you have a .250 hitting 130K's backup catcher starting at 3B it's easy to look bad too. Etc. But it's nice of Inge to stick up for him, even if was a left-handed compliment. Is it not the responsibility of each player/person to be a professional and act professionally, and to take responsibility for their own actions? Why should Trammell be told he needed to be harsher because some of the players lack the ability and know-how to take care of themselves and to play the way they should play without complaining about everything? I give great criticism to those players who think they "should be told" to act correctly and play hard. Trammell, and managers and coaches for that matter, are NOT babysitters!!!
