It's a four year 18.4 million dollar extension... meaning that he'll keep the same yearly salary he has right now.

Good deal for the Tigers given the pay structure. I think that it is likely that while Polanco will not put up the same numbers as he has recently he will continue to live up to that deal.

I love this deal. Just outstanding to get a guy like Polanco signed, sealed and happy...and, for a reasonable salary. I'm encouragaed.

I love the way the infield shapes up for next season. Inge, Guillen, Polanco, and Shelton with Infante as a 5th infielder. Due to his apparent turnaround in AAA, I think Pena must still be considered in the mix for playing time

Oh, please no....

"Tigers prospect Justin Verlander had to leave his start for Double-A Erie after three innings Tuesday night because of tightness in his right (pitching) shoulder."
http://www.detnews.com/2005/tigers/0508/03/D06-267978.htm

He's fine. It's just fatigue. They're going to keep him from pitching for the next 10 or so days.

I'm originally from Missouri, and my Dad still lives there and follows the Cardinals pretty close. He said that Polanco was good for them and he hated to see him go. Glad to see him in Detroit - even better that he almost immediately was ready to stay after only a small amount of time. That may speak well of the Tigers' ability to go after other free agents.
