As far as the slump goes, it seems to me Pudge is hacking at the first pitch a great deal, at least in the games I have watched lately. He may be pressing, he may be fatigued, or he may be injured. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;All we know for certain is that Pudge is a 33-year old catcher, which is kind of like a 33-year old running back.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I saw someone gripe recently about the Tigs record in one-run games, stating point blank that it shows &quot;they dont know how to win the close ones&quot; and thus stands as the reason they are below .500.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I then looked at the 2003 club at baseball-reference.com and found the 43-119 Tigers were 19-18 in one-run games that season.
